Chosen FateA Poem by Becca
I look back as I rush to that bridge.
That bridge of no return. Looking ahead, lights and color and sound swirl. I get a head rush and fall to my knees. They burn from the contact of hot concrete. Getting up I proceed to run. Running straight for that bridge. Once I get there I can't go back. There's no crossing from the afterlife. It's a choice I made all on my own. Everywhere I went nothing seemed right. I look back once more. I'm at the bridge, but I haven't crossed. Going to the rail, I overlook my chosen fate. Water violently splashes all around. Rigid rocks to fall on. Jagged pieces to catch my fall. With one leg over the rail, I start to see. See all those horrid memories flash back before me. I'm getting closer. Just a little more and I can make it. Throwing over my last leg, clenching tight to the bar. Nothing can stop me, not when I'm this close. I hear voices, they come closer. I have to hurry or they'll take me back. Angels sing before me. I can finally see the light. Falling with my arms spread wide. My leg and arm sliced open upon some rocks. Water engulfs me immediately after, dragging me down. Feels good to not breathe. I'm finally where I belong.
