Play

Play

A Poem by Becca

Don't be afraid,
Come out and play.
See that ball,
Bouncing by itself?
It's waiting,
Patiently waiting,
For you to play.
Don't be scared,
It'll be alright,
It'll only hurt for a second.
Do you see that doll,
Crying for your attention?
Come out and play,
She won't bite.
Come out of hiding,
Come on, do it.
Nothing lurks in the dark,
Nothing in the shadows,
At least, nothing to fear.
Play, play, play,
You know you want to.
Don't be afraid,
Come out and play.
It'll be alright,
They won't bite, much.
It'll be okay,
It'll only hurt, once.
Eternal play awaits you.
They're only here to help you.

Very interesting tone. I really like it. It's childish and it captures the mood of the poem very nicely. This definitely had a dark element to it. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for sharing it with us!
