Lives and Nothing

Lives and Nothing

A Poem by Becca

I keep forgetting,
That people aren't like me.
They have lives.
They're achieving their goals,
Or at least working on them.

Unlike me,
Where I'm sitting here,
Not knowing what to do,
But won't leave the house.
I'm not going to amount to much.

So, it is hard to remember,
For me anyways,
That no one is like me.
They're out there in the real world.
Enjoying everything.

Me?
Yeah...
I'm enjoying staring at a screen all day long.
Doing absolutely nothing.
I'm enjoying my four walls,
Where I don't ever see anything else.

People have lives.
I don't.
It's a fact that upsets me every day.
And it's no wonder,
I trap myself in my room,
And avoid everyone all day long.

I'm nothing compared to everyone else.
I'm never going to get anywhere.
We all know that,
I'm pretty sure of it.
So go ahead and live your lives.
Because even with trying to speak to me,

I'll never leave this room.
I'll never achieve superficial goals.
I won't ever amount to anything.
That's a given.
