Childlike

Childlike

A Poem by Becca

There's a child like quality in me.
It shows whenever I smile and laugh.
It shows as I walk downtown,
Skipping and singing along to my music.
I gaze upon others,
And ask myself,
Do I look like a child to them?
What happened to their child like glow?
I am in every way,
A child a heart.
And as I get older,
I hope I don't lose it.
Because in way, it brings back a time,
Where everything seemed okay.
No matter how your childhood was,
You got to admit having those childish quirks.
That's something everyone should remember and embrace.
Early adulthood, mid-adulthood.
Or even elderly adulthood.
It's always good to remember
Those little things that made you smile.
Those simple little things,
That can take you back.
Into a time where, for most,
Nothing was much to worry about.
Go out and do those childlike things.
Enjoy the time you have to live.
Just simply, embrace it.

Heart. Heart. Heart. Heart. Heart.
Maturity comes at such a price, so unfortunate. That glimmer is lost in us.

I'm 23 and I write poems to keep me sane. Poems are my way of getting out how I feel. When I'm upset, I tend to write more. But there are times where I will get randomly inspired and write something c.. more..
