Friends of the PastA Poem by Becca
Looking back,
At all my past friends, I realize, it was the same thing. Every. Single. Time. Why I chose to let people use me, over and over again, I have no idea. But I learned from my mistakes. I started choosing friends Who needed me. Who wouldn't use me. Who wouldn't break me. And who would be there for me, Through all of my bullshit. I look back and laugh. At myself, at the people I chose to be around. I was clearly a child then. And I'm still growing and learning. I can say that I don't miss any of those friends. I honestly don't. It truly is better to just let go And move on. For the better of yourself. So choose wisely. You never know who is fake. Or who is real. Or who will have your back no matter what. When you find that one person, That understands you, And knows what you're going through, Whether that person is a close friend, Or a significant other, Hold onto them and don't take that friendship for granted. Learn from mistakes and the past. And remember, Friends are meant to come and go.
