Darkness and Pain

I live in a world of Darkness and Pain.

Emotions run deep, but it all feels the same.

I never had love, and I never had hope,

I never will have learned how to cope.

 

The world around me seems to melt away,

As I cling to the memories of what went aray.

I never seem to move far from the past,

I guess I just want to make the happiness last.

 

And while there are few who can last it all,

I am not one of them, and I know I will fall.

I don't have a lion's heart, or Hercules's strength,

I would not have the stamina to suceed at such length.

 

I am a mere mortal, no different from another,

I have no extraordinary powers,

You can't tell me

From your own mother.

 

The world around me fades away,

And theres nothing more for me to say.

I live in a word of darkness and pain.

Emotions run deep, but it all feels the same.

Author's Note

I was feeling sad the night I wrote this; and every word rings true for me.
