Endless

Endless

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat.  ~F. Scott Fitzgerald
~*~*~*~
Within these eyes
Lay shrouds of pain
Endless longing
Fore-longed shame
Little fairytales
Mask the pain
In her eyes
She plays the game
Whimsical glitter
Hides in the rain
Running away
Masking the pain
Time is all knowing
She won't hide for long
If Only they knew
Before she's to far gone.
Hanging onto memories
Of times long past
Can't give it up
Afraid to admit
Love is a game
Best fit for two
Sometimes love changes
Decides to leave you
Long time not knowing
Longing for her soul
She gave her life
Left a story untold
Who are we
To become this mess
Forever lost
In this sea of regret.
Times are changing
It's plain to see
But with time
Was the end of you and me.
