Fade Into Black

Fade Into Black

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

"I remember watching the mascara tears flood the ivories and I thought, "It's OK to be sad." I've been trained to love my darkness."
" Lady Gaga

"And now, I'm just trying to change the world, one sequin at a time."
" Lady Gaga

Colorful whirlwind

Always second best
Always a let down
Never passed a test
Beautiful stranger
To some it would seem
Inside us all
There is someone like me
~*~
Dramatic uproar
Framing my past
Hold on to the memories
Of pain that has long passed
Idiotic laughter
Helped in evil ways
Easily swayed
To put the "Evil" away
~*~
I was different
Never hard to tell
I held on to youth
I played Ghost in the shell
Chasing lightening bugs
Everything seemed alright
Nobody knew
What I hid inside
~*~
Eyeliner charades
Cover my face
It isn't my fault
My past made me this way
Depression swooped in
A valiant steed
Took me away
And taught me to see
~*~
Life wasn't always useless
You get what you give
But isn't it funny
It never really happens like this
The good are let down
So others can fly
Taking their lives
Massed murdered the night
~*~
It started in high school
The rumors flew
Somethings uncalled for
I never even knew
People would whisper
Change their pace
After all
I stared death in the face
~*~
Lying lifeless
In that hospital bed
After the overdose
I hoped I was dead
Woken up
Only to be shipped away
Life turns directions
In mysterious ways
~*~
Eyeliner charades
Cover my face
It isn't my fault
My past made me this way
Depression swooped in
A valiant steed
Took me away
And taught me to see
~*~
Colorful whirlwind
Always second best
Always a let down
Never passed a test
Beautiful stranger
To some it would seem
Inside us all
There is someone like me

Author's Note

Alicia Hirshey
I was thinking about high school and how my depression had started and in doing so i was able to put together sort of an insight of part of what started it. Everything in this poem is true. Though it is not my best. Try not to be to rash.

when past mistakes...past depression are remebered...i think you will call them thorns in your path...to which you have overcome and became a better and beautiful soul...let your life bloom Ali...let it bloom through hardships...and you will find it pretty at one point of time...beautiful poem...im shelving this!

I LOVE those quotes from Lady Gaga! She's so awesome.
Anyways, I actually really liked this poem. It was good! I especially loved the 4th stanza. I'm sorry to hear you have/had depression. It really stinks - I know that pain. But look for the blissful points in life! There are probably more than you think! Great write!

We all have that dark night of the soul I call it.. Some acknowledge it a move on and some deny it .. But it makes us whole. You have to love the dark with the light.. or we're out of balance.. A great write Ella..xx
