Filthy Games

Filthy Games

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

Desert the longing
Rid yourself the foes
Take back the magic
That inside of you flows
Stand up for nothing
But everything alike
Refuse to back down
Without putting up a fight
~*~
I refuse to be play
Your games of pretend
Instead I will hide myself
Inside the thoughts
I keep in my head
I will bleed my heart
With pen and ink
But who would care
Nobody will think a thing
~*~
I've done wrong
That I will admit
But nothing to hurt you
As much as this
I hope you rot
I will see you in hell
Enjoy your life
Sneaking to kill
~*~
Marked a liar
For words I helped you spill
Funny how you excepted
Only to steal my help
Mark my words
I won't be her last
Play it safe
Her reign of terror
Won't pass
~*~
You maybe be happy
But it's all a game
You will fall
From your rise to fame
I'll watch as you crumble
And your world fades away
Be The Voice
I helped build
An evil empire
That will help you kill
Claim to help
Save a life
Where will you be
When I take mine?
~*~
Suicidal tendencies
I tend to admit
I play the game easily
With pills in my fist
What would it matter
If you stole them all
You have taken everything
So why not have my soul?
~*~
Desert the longing
Rid yourself the foes
Take back the magic
That inside of you flows
Stand up for nothing
But everything alike
Refuse to back down
Without putting up a fight

I love the word play in this. Describing an 'evil empire'. It's superb. Excellent. That last verse is truly stricking.

I can definitely feel the anger coming from this poem. But I also felt a determination that you will not be played and that the other person will eventually fail. I especially liked this stanza because I can easily relate to it: "I refuse to be play
Your games of pretend
Instead I will hide myself
Inside the thoughts
I keep in my head
I will bleed my heart
With pen and ink
But who would care
Nobody will think a thing"
