Learn To Fly

Yesterday is a shadow
Slowly fading to grey
Let time comfort
Take this pain away
Fighting for something
That could be way more
Hope is calling me
Waiting for it's chance to explore
Maybe in sickness
The thought of decay
Won't sound so perfect
Just fade away
~*~
Hiding the shades
That line my brow
Tempting fate
Enduring what I've found
Truth is nothing
Painful abyss
Hiding away
Until we conquer it.
~*~
A lesson mistaken
Best saved for the grave
Honesty saved you
But stole me away
What if I had done
The same as you
Learn to forgive,
Would that be the game?
Or would you simply
Stand up and walk away?
~*~
Yesterday is a shadow
Slowly fading to grey
Let time comfort
Take this pain away
Fighting for something
That could be way more
Hope is calling me
Waiting for it's chance to explore
Maybe in sickness
The thought of decay
Won't sound so perfect
Just fade away

Chilling yet inspirational; innocent yet in intelligent; easy to relate to yet so far away. Extremely well done, Ella. I love this!

Pain is usually in our heads... But get society to believe that. Not that I really believe it either. Going through what I've been through this week, I've been hurt and on the inside I'm in pain. But you just helped me realize that, with time, I'll start to heal, thank you for that. Great poem.

I absolutely love the line-
yesterday is a shadow
slowly fading to grey
let time comfort
take this pain away

Time does help heal things, though I've found that it never really goes away. Your author's note quote is wonderful too.

Yes, pain is inevitable and suffering is optional, our happiness we control and is something no one can take from us unless we give it away. Our joy is our own and we can choose to share it and spread it to others or we can choose to hand it over to another completely and live in a state of unhappiness. We do have a choice. No life is not always a rose garden and there is going to be rain but always remember the sun will shine again, look for it! XX Wonderful piece Ali.
