Sunlit Tide

Sunlit Tide

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey
"

On Sunlit waters, we lay dreaming.

"

The gulls are calling
Sun kissed nose
Little one running
Sand between her toes
Better to have loved
Than never at all
Earnestly longing
To prepare for the fall

Isolate jumpers
The pier is the way
The boys are calling
As she starts walking there way
Innocent beauty
To all may appear
There is one thing she is after
He will have her from here

Holding on like nothing
She screams for her life
Fighting like crazy
To keep the love alive
Once was nothing
Summer's name is clear
Holding on forever
She loves it here

On sunlit water they lay
Dreaming of a perfect life
Far from stress
In a country to the east
Leaving the ocean
Their biggest feat
No one to tell them
Right from wrong
Just holding on steadily
To where they belong

Tan lines exotic
Play games with their heads
Wanting to be something
It will leave them for dead
Loving this live
The made for themselves
On the sunlit shores
Their hearts melt

Becoming one
In beauty and sin
Never once caring
Losing sight of it
On moonlit shore
The cast the shadow
Lovers embrace
Couldn't be less shallow

Running in tides
Becoming them selves
Leaving the beach
Would hurt like hell
Raising a family
To hold a new light
Keep this love
Perfectly alive
