Loving Judas

Loving Judas

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

Forgiving is rediscovering the shining path of peace that at first you thought others took away when they betrayed you.  ~Dodinsky
~*~

Holy records
Betraying the game
Finding forgiveness
Lost in translation
Holding back nothing
Screaming out
Time is coming
Happenings with a shout
~*~
[Judas I loved thee
You have forsaken me
No not what you do
Surely you will parish too
Give into nothing
Rest assured
A spot is waiting for you]
~*~
Almighty lord
A sin I have lived
Fighting the time
I give you a gift
Wash my feet
Cleanse me deep
Hold on to nothing
Save me
~*~
[See me on the cross
Your burden to bare
Don’t love you any different
I am supposed to be here
Let them judge you
Think what they will
You are following orders
This is God’s will]
~*~
Love is forgiveness
Against god is sin
Who are we to judge
What is kept within
Loving Judas
Won’t make any less
Hold on to something
Jesus will save you from this
~*~
[Buried away
Locked in a tomb
One day Judas
I will return to you
Grab my hand
We will fly away
You surely loved me
You helped along the way]
~*~
Forgive me now
For your life will be again
It was dark
I knew nothing of the sin
Times were hard
You never blamed
You always loved me
Just the same.
~*~
[I do not judge you
I know what you face
You will not have to live through it
But for another day
Dear Judas,
Do not cry
You ultimately saved me.
You are my shining light]
~*~
Holy records
Betraying the game
Finding forgiveness
Lost in translation
Holding back nothing
Screaming out
Time is coming
Happenings with a shout

Author's Note

Alicia Hirshey
After doing some digging on a certain music video being judged called Judas by lady Gaga, I was not sure how to cover a subject like this. It's about how forgiveness and betrayal are hand in hand, and how no matter what destiny above all things and postures that the mistakes in your life are in fact not mistakes at all, they are just part of your overarching potential and your destiny. it's meant more to celebrate faith than it is to challenge it, she uses Judas as a metaphor and an analogy about forgiveness and betrayal and things that haunt you in your life, and how I believe that it's the darkness in your life that ultimately shines and illuminates the greater light that you have upon you. She goes on to say that "Someone once said to me, 'If you have no shadows then you're not standing in the light.' So the song is about washing the feet of both good and evil, and understanding and forgiving the demons from your past in order to move into the greatness of your future," she continued. "I just like really aggressive metaphors — harder, thicker, darker — and my fans do as well. So it is a very challenging and aggressive metaphor, but it is a metaphor." 'm fascinated with the way that iconography is taught in terms of education to the world, whether it be through institutionalized religion or through symbolism or through movies or through music," she said.
"In a lot of ways it's about faith and hope, but not in the religious sense," she added. "It's about faith and hope in culture, especially in a time all over the world where many are in need of hope, in need of understanding, in need of love, in need of lack of prejudice, in need of no judgment, in need of acceptance.

Wow. I loved it. "Judas" by Lady Gaga is one of my favorite songs. I believe you did an excellent job describing the back ground of the story.

Interesting. Im not sure what to say of this... Forgiveness can be one of the hardest things, you did an excellent job of portraying it. There is a lot of meaning in this poem and even i am having trouble understanding all of it.

Forgiveness is a big part of love. The hardest thing for a person to do is to be able to also forgive themselves. Wonderfully penned Ali.
