Color The Town

Color The Town

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

Town of the dead
Fills me with dread
Look out the window
Images in my head
Teenage years forming
Recklessly calling
Time to escape from it
~*~
Different mindset
Fill them with fear
Hiding from
The child the once held dear
Once was a child
Nothing more than a dream
Hiding away
From me it would seem
~*~
People judge
Pass on the street
Point and stare
They think I’ve given into defeat
Throw your stones
They may break my bones
But no words could ever dare
~*~
Hide from the unknown
Writers talent overflows
Becoming who will one day be known
You have not control
My life belongs to me
~*~
Words flood the paper
Color on my page
Hiding away my emptiness
Controlling all my rage
You hold nothing for me
There isn’t anything here
Watch me fly away
Break free from the chains
That bind me here

Don't get down. Only a little longer until you can paint this town to your heart.

Different flow, nice. Something about it just seems brand new, not that it's a new poem, not that kind of new vibe, just deeper in how it makes you feel.

Perfect way to describe taking control of your life again. I like the way it flows.
