"Over 80% of marine pollution comes from land-based activities"~WWF

Toxic spills Chemical ships Losing faith Set adrift Turn over the drums To stay afloat They won’t blame us It’s not our fault ~*~ Oil ship Tossed in the sea Killing millions Turning waters green Matted feathers Fish the same Who will save them Oil spills are the same ~*~ Patches of garbage Effects are great Killing many Won’t stop the hate Sit back and watch As millions die Is that how we chose to lead our lives ~*~ Plastic bags Mistaken for food Blocking ways to breath Making stomachs true Choking in nothing normal And now more than ever It’s nothing new ~*~ Nets left by fishers Killing with might Forging for something Not a way to day Swimming peacefully The water was blue I never saw it Until it captured you. ~*~ Fighting to make this right Protecting you Carry you on backs Until your hearts mend This is all our planet We must respect it.
A staggering amount of waste, much of which has only existed for the past 50 years or so, enters the oceans each year. From plastic bags to pesticides - most of the waste we produce on land eventually reaches the oceans, either through deliberate dumping or from run-off through drains and rivers
What Can We do to fix it- Help protect the last healthy, undisturbed places in the ocean so we can learn how to help healthy reefs thrive, help unhealthy reefs recover, and better preserve the ocean.

I love how all of your poems deal with the honest and pure truth. I also feel that polluting is one of the most disrespectful things you can do to nature, and animals. It also effects us in many ways, but mostly the wildlife in the oceans. A powerful and also poignant write. Loved it a lot. I am inspired by many of your poems and you have excellent topics. Amazing job and write :)
I was station at Fort Ord., Ca. I use to walk and pick-up garbage and waste off the beach with the early morning people. Gave us reasons to be friends and we held respect for the sea and the ocean life. Your poem is true. That make it very scary. I live in Michigan. The Great lakes are polluted too. Your last line is face. We best take care of the water, earth and the air. A excellent poem. Thank you.

Yes, This is so truthful and so sad.
I hate seeing places like this.
Some people don't relaize what they are doing.
They do know but they just don't care.
I think that is so sad.
I remember going to a beach in NJ after a storm and was disgusted at what washed up on the bayside of the beach. It is amazing though that you can go to a beach in one spot and then go to another state and visit the same ocean but there isn't all the trash.
A great poem and you're right this is the only planet we have and we're slowly killing her.
