Letting You GoA Poem by Alicia Hirshey"All changes are more or less tinged with melancholy, for what we are leaving behind is part of ourselves."~Amelia Barr ~*~*~ Daddy you left me
I’ve nowhere to go I’m here with mommy But it doesn’t feel like home Who will raise me Teach me as his own Daddy, why did you have to go? ~*~ Empty promises Made in a sigh What is the matter Afraid of your lies Growing up Was never easy for me You didn’t care You took off and left me ~*~ Hatred forming For the man I know It doesn’t matter He has a happy home Forced to struggle day to day What about my tears that you never wiped away ~*~ I was never good enough I see it was true Anger is building up At the sight of you At night I still cry I want to be held tight But where are you, daddy? I’m losing sight ~*~ All grown up now A child of my own I will be there for him I’ve learned from parents of my own I loved you, daddy It took this long to see I still don’t understand Why you left me. ~*~ Daddy you left me I’ve nowhere to go I’m here with mommy But it doesn’t feel like home Who will raise me Teach me as his own Daddy, why did you have to go? © 2011 Alicia HirsheyAuthor's Note
