Ties That BindA Poem by Alicia Hirsheya little madYour parent is not a parent
Just a thief in the night Who are you to speak When you were nowhere insight Throwing judgments Placing the blame You aren’t happy Unless there is someone else to blame. * Where were you When I was growing old Who’s hand did I have to hold What makes you better You weren’t there But that is fine With him I never needed you there * Ask and you shall receive I know what I see You were never there Yet you always lectured me Give up your games I’m cutting the strings Giving up this fight * Man who raised me Where were you Nowhere around Don’t deny the truth Give up your games I won’t be the one to play * I’ll write what I want Everything is the truth But it doesn’t matter It never concerned you I’ll say what I want It’s not a sin Give up the game I won’t give in. * Your parent is not a parent Just a thief in the nigh Who are you to speak When you were nowhere insight Throwing judgments Placing the blame You aren’t happy Unless there is someone else to blame. © 2011 Alicia HirsheyAuthor's Note
