Angel Kisses

Angel Kisses

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

“My life was forever changed on February 9, 2011. My daughter was born that morning and past away that night. I only had 8 hours with her but I wouldn’t have done anything differently. It was the best 8 hours of my life, I only wish that I had more time with my precious baby girl, Gracie.” -My lovingly, Strong friend, Ashley Maroon.

Beautiful infant

I named her Gracie

Falling from me

Those last eight hours

Cannot be replace

Mommy loves you

I just wish you could see

What your passing

Has done to me

*

Mommy

Don’t cry

I know your pain

Have you forgotten

I see you everyday

I’m here in the wind

That blows your hair

Flowing through you

Free of despair

*

Little Gracie

Why did you go?

Wasn’t my love enough?

You already had a home.

Am I not good enough

For your saving wings?

I loved you so much

Why has this happened to me?

*

Mommy

Don’t question the greater good

It all has a reason

I wish you understood

Don’t cry for me mommy

I am free

Don’t worry mommy

Jesus is watching me.

*

I know you’re his daughter

But your more my own

Born of my blood

I just want you home.

Why were you taken?

We could have made it through

I wanted more than anything

To share life with you.

*

Mommy

Don’t cry

I know your pain

Have you forgotten

I see you everyday

I’m here in the wind

That blows in your hair

Flowing through you

Free of despair.

*

Little Gracie

I promise you this

Your in my heart

A single beat won’t be missed

I’m living for you

As I’d leave for myself

Moving forward

Not downing myself.

*

Mommy

I promise

This isn’t your fault

Jesus need me

I answered his call

I know you need me

But he needs me too

Just have faith

Mommy

We’ll be together soon.

*

Beautiful infant

I named her Gracie

Those last eight hours

I would not change

You’ve changed my life

More than you’ll ever know.

I see know,

You had to go home.

*

Mommy

Don’t cry

I know your pain

Have you forgotten

I see you everyday

I’m here in the wind

That blows in your hair

Flowing through you

Free of despair.

It si very hard to lose a child. Especially right after they are born. I love that you repeat some stanzas...almost like a song. You can feel the sorrow of the mother leak out from the poem and seep into your skin. Making this feeling your own and you understand. The true beauty of it is that the child is reassuring her mother that one day they will see each other again. I love this. It is just amazing.
