Portraits of Courtney

Portraits of Courtney

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

Talent undefined

Greater depth

Than you or I

Saying what must be said

Don’t let her words go to your head.

Cheating poets

Stealing lines

Should be ashamed

Would rather run and hide

Tantalizing their victim

Spreading horrible lies

Is this how we repay

The beauty

On which she thrives?

Stupidity in their words

Illiterate in accusations

Pushing away

The best in the nation

Stalking her poetry

Playing hurtful games/

Stronger a person

To walk away.

Bleeding her hatred

In ink instead of flesh

Bruising the paper

Pouring hatred on top of it

Bottling inside

But not trying to hide

Talent undefined

Greater depth

Than you or I

Author's Note

Alicia Hirshey
Beauty isn't defined through the life you leave but the legacy you leave. Courtney this is for you. You have helped me through so much and yet you barely know me. I wish there was more I could say and more that I could write but I just could not find the words. As you deal with your bullies, Just know that you are not alone. I am here with you, I love you Courtney. Thank you.

I think I might cry, for a good cause though, so tears are necessary, thank you for making this, I will always keep it to re-read through my stormy days where I can't find a light.
