Misery Needs Company

Misery Needs Company

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

Band tee’s

Boyish flare

He can turn my frown into a smile

Just by being there

Eyeliner charades

Concert filled nights

If only he knew

I shared his plight

Never knowing the meaning

Of what he was showing

Nail polish days

Happiest I’ve been

Remembering him

Every now and again

Messages never ceasing

Eyes never weeping

Heavenly despair

Loneliness longing

Words are not forming

Excitement I feel

From one single kill

Hinting like crazy

Your judgment is hazy

Never once playing

Those games with my head

Ramones t-shirts’

Classes fading

Your memory has me jaded.

Longing to see you

Hoping to be you

A simple thread

Hung in the balance

Of what must never be said.
