Past Mistakes

Past Mistakes

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

Time goes by,
and with every second,
I die a little inside.
Nowhere to run and nowhere to hide,
All this pain that I keep inside.
The memories,
That I would wish would die,
With every second,
I grow weaker inside.
Everyday it gets harder,
yet no matter how hard I try,
It all pours out in the blink of an eye.
All the hurtful things he did,
and all the nasty things he said.
All the punches thrown,
And all my bruises show,
Is a coward in disguise.
It's hard to go day to day,
Because the hurt he caused won't go away.
I'm ready to give up,
For the reasons you know,
And yet everyday,
I slip a little further away.
I should have ran,
Played it safe,
But I guess I learned from my mistakes.

Author's Note

Alicia Hirshey
It's time to grow up. Don't let the past haunt you. You've had it rough, but its okay. Your no longer alone. Learn form your mistakes. Don't be a drag. Bring new light to life. It maybe hard right now. But I have faith in you. If I can do it. You can do it. We can heal together.
