Death From The Inside

Death From The Inside

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

My heart is still beating

Without signs of ceasing.

So do I feel like I am dying?

This depression is deep

A bottomless pit.

I’m starting to wonder if it is possible to come out of it.

All of this bleeding,

All physical wounds aside.

Nothing is fixing the pain I hold inside.

How I long to disappear

But it seem that the only way is for me to die.

So I welcome this death,

With its beautiful embrace

Because out of it

I will feel no more pain.

So just let me sit here
And watch them dig my grave.

Author's Note

Alicia Hirshey
Love is stronger than death even though it can't stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can't separate people from love. It can't take away our memories either. In the end, life is stronger than death.”
