Built on a Lie

Built on a Lie

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

Your voice cuts me deeply

Your lies are never ceasing.

Everyday I’m learning something new.

You won’t be honest

Even if it is over something huge.

With every new word that you are saying,

I can feel my heart slowly breaking,

So why even stay here with you?

I can’t keep faking

That I don’t catch what your saying.

Your lies are consuming.

I can no longer tell what you say is truth.

This relationship

Which should be built on honesty

Is built on the lies that created you.

It hurts to know

And kills me inside

But I have to admit

Everyday I wonder

What else is a lie?

I think the strongest line words in this piece are "...Lies that created you."

Crushing realism, and honest. You can feel the pain from the writing
a great perspective into the emotion. Great read.

Matthew
