So Says The Catterpillar

So Says The Catterpillar

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

You laugh at my dreams,
Yet I am more than I seem.
I may look like a weak limb,
But I am sure of what I am.
I'm hidden amoung the trees,
But my heart is not at ease.
One day I will rise above the rest,
and fly freely from these sheltering limbs.
All will see my grace and beauty,
As I go about my duties.
As I sleep,
A metamorphis will transpire,
I wake with tremendous power.
Clip not my wings for I may just fly for now.
I am soaring,
Above all of the rest.
I am pleased with what I've done,
Not with what I have not.
I have my wings now,
I will not worry,
Just fly.
I won't look back,
Not a single regret.
Now that I have my wings.
