An Unexpected AdditionA Poem by Alicia HirsheyThe moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother never did. A mother is absolutely new.Tiny life,
Stirring inside. So close to my heart, Hearing it's heartbeat for the first time. Little heartbeat, Imagine my joy, For the second time I'm told, "It's A Boy" A playful kick, Every now and again, Makes my life worth living, Through all the pain I'm in. A little face, That I will soon see, And on that day, I will finally meet, The angel growing inside of me. My joy is overwhelming, You'd think I was high, And all of this, Because we made life. All my days, Spent counting down, Until the day, You decide to come out. This Happiness, That I am feeling inside. Cannot be shaken, Even if I tried. © 2011 Alicia HirsheyAuthor's Note
