What cancer does is, it forces you to focus, to prioritize, and you learn what's important.
“If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then
maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other
choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and
emotionally: give up, or fight like hell.” - Lance Armstrong
“I don't think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains.” - Anne Frank
Little misery, Beautiful child. Staring death in the face. Fighting a new battle, With each passing day. A beautiful mother, Tears roll down her face, Every second knowing, Today could be her little girls last day. Skin and bones, Hairless frame, Beauty isn’t gone, It’s written in her daughter’s pain. Fighting an endless battle, Refusing defeat, This little girl won’t give up, Odds don’t mean a thing. Loving life, Refusing to give up and die. Everyday spent fighting, Seven years old, But still to strong to hide. Remission isn’t just a word, It’s been her dream all her life. Little girl, Stronger than you or I. Lovely blonde hair, Starting to grow upon her head, A beauty Unlike any you have ever known. A little girl, Not afraid to fight, Never gave up, Saved her mother’s life. Chemo wasn’t a treatment, It was a struggle in it’s self, But her determination, Is what hid the cancer, Inside of herself. Remission isn’t a dream, If it was, It’s come true.
i wrote this today while researching childhood cancer. One story stood out to me about a mother who's 7 year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. She went on to tell that her daughter is now in remission and is 13 years old. She in fact inspired me to write a poem that was extremely challenging for me. I hope you enjoyed.

My son lived in a hospital back and forth from home to UofM and I got to see the cancer ward (an entire floor) with childhood cancers.. Unbelievable...taking a topic and writing about it like you have is amazing and shows your compassionate heart.. This is a beautiful tribute to those who have suffered from it and the families that have suffered through it.. Great write.. :) x

Simply lovely and heartbreaking. Cancer is such a horrible thing, especially when you see it in children.
A girl at my school was diagnosed with a type of leukemia last year, on her 14th birthday. It was a rare type, and she had a 50/50 chance of making it. The community fought like hell. Our student council earned nearly 2,000 dollars by selling bracelets, and that was minuscule compared to what other organizations earned.
She now is healthy and the cancer is gone, for now. She got a bone marrow transplant from an anonymous donor. The point is, cancer is one of those things that everybody in the world will always hate and dread, but when it comes around, everyone will fight back and try to win the battle
