Young Girl

Young girl sits alone
Wondering what has gone so wrong
She feels the emptiness growing stronger
Taking over her life

She feels as if things couldn't possibly get any worse
She cries to herself
Rocks herself to sleep in tears
She wakes up screaming

Woken up by the nightmare
The nightmare that is her past
She feels as though it will never go away
Like it's meant to haunt her for the rest of her life

She wishes it would just go away
Let her live in peace
Without fear of being hurt
Or treated like she's worthless

She keeps hearing those words
Spoken by everyone
But she doesn't believe them
All the pain and hurt
Continuously haunts her
Makes her not believe
Any words that people spoke to her
