WORTHLESS

Something I wrote over the summer. It doesnt feel good after awhile when people label you "worthless"

How much is a soul worth?

One so broken up by this world,

Full of ignorant, heartless b******s

Labeling me as a waste of life.

 

A crack in the glass of human existence.

Sharp knives of hurtful words

Stabbing at my heart and eternal tears

For what good I'll ever be in your eyes.

 

Overwhelming blackness of my mind,

 Sweet sucide dreams haunting thoughts.

My sanity wrote a suicide note,

But one of us is illiterate.

 

Worthless.

I think this is great as it is. The ending is strong and sums up the poem well, I think. There is strong emotion - I sensed frustration and anger - resonating from this piece. The world can be a cruel place and sometimes it's hard to understand why people need to act so cruelly towards one another, right? Just wanted to point out that "suicide" in the last stanza is typoed....wouldn't point it out, but the rest of the poem is great and the typo is distracting. Anyway, great job with this.

I can relate to this poem because I know what it feels like to be called worthless as well as other harsh words over and over. Wonderful poem!

I can definitely relate to this post. I had an emotionally abusive ex-boyfriend that made me feel worthless. I think this poem is good, I think that it could use more of a flow to it, but that is just my opinion.

This poem is something that everyone can relate to one way or the other. That is because we have all felt that we are worthless. I really like the last few lines

"My sanity wrote a suicide note,
But one of us is illiterate."

I think its pretty good just the way it is. Capturing stray thoughts of a wandering mind, hitting back at a world unable to come to terms with it. A dark theme well developed.
Personally, I feel that a person determines his/ her own worth. Nobody in the world has the right to tell or question anyone's worth or importance. You are as important as me with a bunch of people relying on your for their everyday smiles.

Keep up the good work and don't lose heart because of some 'heart-less b******s'. :D

WoW!! This was really pretty awesome, wow! hehe. Welld done :) This pretty much summed up my feelings about myself, and what people have done to me. It Is such a very horrible feeling and thing when people do this to a good soul. It rips them to shreds; and even the slightest thing wrong, can trigger a feeling of deep sadness that's incredibly hard to control. Very heartfelt, powerful, and with great strength, this poem. Definitely a favorite of mine, hehe. *hugs*

Anyone who would call another person worthless should be ignored, to say the least. Every single person on this planet has value, and, if anything, you're further away from being worthless than most. Believe in yourself - I do.
