SLAVE

SLAVE

A Poem by Beautifully Tragic xPoetry Queen
"

A little annoyance write inspired by the house I live in....

"

A slave, and yet such a loyal one

Do this, do that

Feeling the whip's crack

Shattering against my skin.

Complying to every order,

I give in to every desire.

As I'm bound by my thoughts,

Chained tightly to broken dreams.

No sympathy, no wishes granted

In a world of misery and betrayal

My own lonely secrets,

Kept hidden within my heart.

Time heals all wounds,

As new scars add to old ones.

Only in my own imagination,

Lies a life of justice and freedom.

Sometimes imagination is our greatest (and only) escape, right? And it's better than nothing. I like the last stanza the best, how time is constantly healing our wounds even as we acquire new ones.

I like the way in which you have worded it. It is a little bit of what everyone feels time from time when we are low and at our lowest we feel the slave to life itself. i feel I can relate :) I love it :) xxx

I think everyone feels this way occaisionally. There's always hope for tomorrow though.

Often we find ourselves trapped in a pattern. When we finally realize what is going on, it is too late to brake the chain, because we have become part of the chain gang ourselves...
This may be an old poem, but the theme is eternal.
Yes, it is possible to break free. Possibilities to do so however are scarce.

And the slave has become our queen - was there a glass shoe involved? :)

I think it's quite common to feel that way - beaten down and turned into something of lesser value. The only way to cope with it is to find our own self value, and be proud of who we are and what we manage to achieve in our lives. But isn't that what life is all about anyway?

I nice insiteful write. One can feel trapped by even simple things in life such as organising a house. Forever it needs our attantion, never ending and never greatful but the work must be done.

Slavery and bondage are two states which bring out a strong emotions in writers,
you managed to do that and the feeling is visual.
