An angel in disguise,

Felt too good to be true.

A spell you casted over me

When I gave my heart to you.

 

Troubled and confused,

But with a heart so filled with love.

With one special kiss I fell,

Through soft clouds from up above.

 

Never knew who you really were,

Should have listened to every warning

This love wasn't meant to be

My life I would soon be mourning.

 

You fooled me once,

Then shamed me twice.

Filling my head with poison and lies

Eventually I paid the price.

 

You destroyed the life I had,

Took all the innocence I had inside.

Out of the blackness of your soul and heart

Because of you, I nearly died.

 

Left me alone and broken,

And barely pulling through.

Rebuilding whatever I have left inside

When I fell in love with you.

Very strong, intense and running high on emotions. A heart-break always brings anguish and pain which worsens when you realize that it has been intentionally inflicted by that one person who you loved so much. Being in love with someone is a wonderful feeling and it is supposed to bring out the best in you. But mostly, relationships always end on a bad broken note where one person is so sensitive and caring and the other one is equally apathetic. I'm not saying this is the ONLY reason but then, I find it the most frequent one.

Anyway, I loved this piece. It flowed well and brought about the feelings very strongly. Well written. :)

Love makes fools of us all, blinds us so we ignore all the obvious signs, makes us believe everything's going great when it's actually all wrong. It's very easy to let yourself be swept away by someone who doesn't deserve your trust, which is why it's always good to listen to what others are saying as well and not just trust your own crippled instincts.

I've made more mistakes than I can count when it comes to love. That's one of the only reasons I'm glad to be alone, and not tangled up in this web of complicated emotions. But every now and again I get dragged back into this vicious circle of pain. I guess you can't fight the urge of wanting to have someone in your life, at least not for long.

Then again, some people get lucky, and find someone great to share their lives with. From what you've been telling me, you might be one of those. Don't let your thoughts get you down - you might find yourself projecting those emotions on your real life.

This poem is powerful, really heartbreaking and the sad thing is .. love should be something cherished and make us happy .. not always the case.
