Shut Your Mouth

Shut Your Mouth

A Poem by Beautifully Tragic xPoetry Queen
"

Spoken Word after listening to Garbage's "Shut Your Mouth". Passing time by, mostly.

"

You know what poetry is,

Some golden rule carved in stone.

And only your rule is legit

As you berate all,

Bleeding their souls on paper.

Building up a mountain of drama

To get where you feel you belong,

Gaining the respect, you think you deserve.

You write only to be born a star,

And gain all the money in the world

Because you are the best,

Therefore your writing is the best.

And you reign as royalty,

Among those who have real passion

Inside their hearts and souls.

I do not write this

To add to the mountain

You have built, standing strong and tall.

My heart knows what's true,

And it knows what is wrong

As I keep writing the melody of my soul.

I write because it is my passion.

And no gold could add up

To my one and only love in my life.

And there is no price

That could ever add up to such a love,

Cherishing every moment broughtfourth

From the spirits of my beloved muse.

You are too caught up in your own world,

Too caught up in your own glory,

You cannot put a price on art,

That comes like a rocket deep within.

This is not high school,

So forget what you think you know.

Forget about the drama,

Just shut your mouth.

what better way for an artist to pass the time, as you show in sculpted this work of passion, with an
understanding of what it means to express talent for all the right reasons in way of knowing the true
intention of surrendering to the cause for sake of justifying the heart vs using the cause for the act
of mere profit, and self gain, i believe there is a balance, i also see the classic scenerio of critic and writer,
your words take the reader to another time and place, how the diolog seems to be bewteen a love lost
and the finding the answers why, heartfully depthful, imaginative, expressively motivated, well done.

I see the author struggling with the reason she writes. Her true passion is bleeding onto paper the words that don't forsake her and transpose her innermost thoughts and feelings into a work of art.
Her doubts are in the mind that she might not be as good as she thinks and that causes a dwindling effect. The echo's are of the past but she's determine to be the bestThat's what I got from this exchange as I drifted into the writingI love the way you express yourself. Nice write.

"You cannot put a price on art". I agree. I liked this.
Dunno what your deal with Garbage is... I haven't heard form them in a long time.
I also hate phonies; people who use songwriters because they have no talent. It's another thing if there's some kind of friendship between songwriter/performer, but yeah..
A lot of "royalty" aren't even close to as good as some things I've heard/read from... regular people.

Ah yes, I remember that song.
I'm more of a "Version 2.0" kind of person.. :)
I won't touch the subject - I think I've said enough already.
It does have a great flow to it.
