Waking Nightmare

Waking Nightmare

A Poem by Beautifully Tragic xPoetry Queen
"

Written for abused women.

"

For years,
a hidden saddness
That's deep inside your heart

For years,
You've been in darkness
As he tears your world apart

The waking nightmare
You see him in your dreams
As his footsteps draw near

Hoping to see some guilt
Through your teary broken eyes
But he fills your weeping heart with fear

He tells you he's sorry
Casting you under his spell
Just to keep you close

Broken promises and lies
As your yearning for something else
Things in life you need the most

Take back everything he took from you
This nightmare you live
Is truly unfair

Be strong and get away
Never to return to a life once lived
Your waking nightmare.

Note: I have learned so much in years of writing. Art saves. No matter what the situation, no matter what is happening. Art has completly saved my life. BELIEVE ME. I would NOT be here today. I encourage people to write what ever the feeling, no matter what any one else says to you. WRITE. Don't let anyone stop you from anything You only have you and yourself to depend on, and you and yourself to listen to.
Art Saves

We all have nightmares. Things that still make us bleed, make us weep.
I remember why I turned to writing. It was my way out. My way of being able to express myself.
Tell MY story. MY side of things.
As you said, "Art saves".
This is beautiful. An example of the tragedies of life and yet even in the aftermath. Even buried in all the ash and rubble, we can claw our way free and live yet again.
Brava!

Rayne, your poem applies to any abusive relationship. Sadly, i kept going back to the same people that i called friends, when i growing up as a kid. And, yes art in whatever form you choose can help to express and excise the deep hurt within the victim of that abuse. Its not an easy process to begin, but once started it will slowly help in the healing. Although, you have to relive the pain all over again. Thank you for sharing this poem with us.
