The Stone and The Ledge.

The Stone and The Ledge.

A Poem by Jennifer Ellen

Things written in stone,
Never to be erased or scratched out,
Only to be withered with the water from my tears,
The stones are stained-
Stained with my blood,
As it drips from this pain skin,
The knife has carved each thing into my skin,
With every little detail,
Making it never go away,
Thus making things impossible to forget,

I stand on this cliff,
This ending ledge,
Looking down,
To see my fate,
I take each stone-
Drop them one by one,
Into the black,
Into the abyss,
On the stones,
Etched in so deep,
Things I know what I have done is wrong,
And I wish I could fix it,
But thus I know I cant,
As I drop the last stone,
I listening to the sound of each stone hitting the ground,
It sounds so soft-
Like rain,

I lean ever so close to the edge,
Closing my eyes,
I wait for my fate,
I wait for when I follow the stones to the bottom,
As I take the step forward,
I get pulled backwards,
As they wrap their arms around my waist,
They whisper something in my ear,
It was, “I can take away all this misery,
Will you spend forever with me?”
I turn around quickly,
‘Cause I know that voice,
I whisper, “yes.”
And you pull me away from the ledge,

Walking away,
Intertwined with my Poet.
My forever.

About
I am a beautifully broken poet. I wonder why the world has so much hate in it. I hear my heart beat loud as I look at what’s to come in my life. I see the words from my heart flow out and ont.. more..
