EqualsA Poem by ElephantWe are not alone. We are equals2am, silence surrounds; the snores of the house, the peace of their mind. But here I lay awake, sleep nowhere near, for my thoughts are distressing and making the thought of rest seem far. But its not want it seems, nor what you think or believe; my mind is racing, its on full speed, I am out of breath, as I run the race, win the war, that I don’t want to fight anymore. It’s a contest, who will win, sleep or my crazy thoughts. Some may say I am particular, everything in its place, equal lines and equal space; but what about the thoughts? What does it mean, am I crazy, weak or weird? No, I am human, we are human fighting every day, battling to win. Don’t shut us down, don’t make us look weak, we are a lot stronger than you may think. It’s a constant battle, I know you may not understand, or maybe not care; but this is something that I want you to believe, we are all crazy, we all make mistakes, we all human and that its okay to break down; you may look fine as the smile holds back the tears, because deep down depression looks just like you and me. © 2018 ElephantAuthor's Note
