War is Fair in LoveA Poem by BeautifulHolidayA twist on the cliche... Villianelle style.If all is fair in love and war, then I shall take up ice to combat your fire. I relied on you to support me. That’s all I asked for.
But in being a slave to you, our love was a chore. In refusing to melt, you prepared the pyre. Why did my cease-fire cause your flames to uproar?
My decision to form another strategic alliance, you did deplore. Despite my loyalty to you, I was damned to hellfire. My white knight strengthened my ice, serving as a trusted mentor.
Your words burned me alive, but I would not succumb in this war. I realized the power inside of me as I was inspired. I summoned legions of ice to even the score.
Body cut, heart torn, I survived this inflicted gore. You underestimated your fragile little briar. You don’t know who I am anymore;
I have become water, and the cycle will be restored. My mind has transformed and to you I am no longer mired. My former ally and I kindled a new amour. Does the victor always have the better score? © 2016 BeautifulHolidayAuthor's Note
