Foster care, age 5

Foster care, age 5

A Poem by Darkmistress

The bright lights flash red, blue,
shes runs hiding
so young and pure not sure what she did wrong,
hiding and shaking, scared,
they find her, her heart races,
where is everyone?

They put her in hand cuffs, because she fights,
in the back of a normal car she goes,
tears fall down her face,
shes taken to an office,
waiting and waiting, in silence.

Little did she know that life style was wrong,
in her eyes she was fine,
but in reality, lice covered her head, her clothes smothered with dirt and stains,
her ribs poke out,
bruises everywhere, cuts on her lips, and her nose part way split.

she cries tell she falls asleep,
when she wakes up they tell her she was going to live with new people for a while,
tears fall down her cheek and all she can say is "i want my mommy"

She gets no reply, just silence,
and just like that in foster care she goes.
Forever it will remain on her permanent record.
Not her fault, not her to blame, yet there lies proof, of what she wishes would disappear.
