The Boss

A Story by Beau-dee-loot

The Boss

“Okay, okay, everyone present? Tony Hansfreeze here? Where’s Tony? Clive, where’s Tony? Clive!”

“Yes, sorry, Evelyn’s got a new watch, sorry.”

“Where’s Tony?”

“I don’t know, I saw him five minutes ago, I don’t know.”

“So he’s here but he’s not here?”

“Yeah he’s here but not right here, not here now. He’s here, he’s coming, I think. He was out in the office before. He’s probably got stuck in the kitchen making tea. You know what he’s like with tea.”

“I do know. Tony needs to be here. I need him to hear this.”

“What, Tony, he’s out there, do you want me to get him? He’s just out there. He’s got the tea. He’s here, coming.”

“Yes Simon, if you wouldn’t mind, that would be good. Okay take your seats please, this won’t take long. Not you Simon, get Tony. I need Tony here for this, okay. I need everyone here.”

“Yes boss.”

“Don’t call me boss.”

“Okay.”

“Quiet, please, this is important. Carol, quiet, I want to get started.”

“Sorry, Evelyn’s got a new watch, look.”

“Ticking, is it?”

“Oh yes, it’s ticking non-stop.”

“It’ll stop. Right Tony, right. Tony, take a seat. Tony? Get a seat, mate. Ask him later. I want to get this done and then you can get on. Okay everyone sit down. Everyone seated? Good. Thanks for this at such short notice. Just need to have everyone here, together. Okay, now stay here, I’m just going to go out and shoot myself.”

The dialogue was funny and realistic. So like an office. I could tell this was going to lead to something unexpected, but you still surprised me. I thought he was going to fire them all.

Ahh...if only my boss would say this ;)

It's all dialogue. Im not sure if it's "really" a story if Theres no description its more like lines like in a play? only there's no stage instruction or description of movement either. So im just not really sure....
The dialogues good! But its just dialogue.

THE ENDING. Wow, this shows some undeniable skill, the way you have managed to paint a vibrant picture with mere usage of dialogues, and the classy way in which this was expressed, it has so much detail in such less words, details enough to write a whole character sketch. You are good with characterization, and the timing is just perfect. I truly enjoyed reading, well done.

lmao, this is so good! The dialogue is fast and enjoyable, it reminds me of skit, or someone putting on a play. It would definitely be awesome if this was acted out. witty and delightful to read. It's just so good that adjectives cannot begin to describe how much I loved this :), You're just simply brilliant!

This is absolutley excellent!! Very cool like the fast dialog from a Guy Ritchie movie....And there is so much more you can do with this!! That gift of writing very fast paced and smooth dialog is sooo hard to come by and you have it...You just proved that in only a couple paragraphs...Just absolutely sharp as a diamond edge cutter with the smooth flow of the mountain stream...Sounds like a beer commercial I know...Sorry...But thats the best way to describe your style...Extremely witty and excellent Beau!!!
