Sleep

Sleep

A Poem by Beatrice Mars

Yellow bruises under
Bloodshot eyes
Show off a fight I couldn't win

Pale skin
and
Cracked crimson
Lips
Are prizes from
A battle long lost,

But now,
After falling through
Black and white and all the colours of white
I stop to consider
That
I've been running
For too long,
Too fast,
In the wrong direction.

And I must slow down.

In fact I think
I'll curl up in a ball and
Lament the lack
Of glitter in my life.

Because I've got f**k all else to do.

In fact,
I think I'll go to bed.

Except

I can't sleep.

The curse word in the middle distorts the flow somehow. Other than that, you've pretty much attained a steady beat. I like the colorful description about the bruise, just serves to fuel imagination. What an honest and carefree piece.

Keep Writing. ^___^

I can so relate to this :)
I love the way this poem flows. It's very natural and you've written a great poem without having to use "pretty words"
well done!
