Sitting and WatchingA Poem by Beatrice Mars
Our Love (and sanity) could
Never be explained, (Or testified for) Like rain Or wind Or Sun, We're (you're) not renowned For keeping our word. But we get around to it. We're hurtling Around to fast With out much time left To worry about Deadlines. Everyone wants a piece of us, To dissect us And understand us, So it's ok, I understand why you did it, I just have to question your 'sanity', Like i said, I'm not sure if you should Testify. I watch you on tenterhooks, Waiting for you to break down, The anticipation is nibbling hard at My brain and my thumb nails Are gnawed down to the roots. I'm sweating like a pig. I'm sorry for leaving you To fend for your self, But in my (it was self) Defence! (I'm in the dock now) I was distracted by (pancakes) Something loud. IT WASN'T MY FAULT! I just wasn't there. (To prevent it, Even if I was I'd have just Sat and Watched.) You might see holes in my 'Defence' (I DIDN'T DO IT) But, like the lawyer said, If you don't try you can't fail. So maybe I'm sorry I let you fall (asleep) But like I said, We don't have much time left. You've got to stop blaming me, Everything's s**t beyond repair, That doesn't mean we can't do something..
It's not my fault. I think our love (and sanity) Has been written off. © 2010 Beatrice MarsAuthor's Note
