So You Could Taste Stars.

So You Could Taste Stars.

A Poem by Beatrice Mars

I'm looking for
The edges
In this
Crazy world,
Something to
Tell me
What I'm
Doing here.

But I just got
A message
On my phone.
(New hair for the
New
Year.)
And I'm
Worried about
What is going to happen
To this
Crazy place.
(It really is quite pretty.)

Blood red sun
Set
And
The sound of
Stars dancing in
The wind,
The Smell of
Grass
And Sea
Fill your eyes.
(It really is quite pretty.)

So Dempsey,
You'll just have
To make do,
Make Peace, If you
Can,
Just try not to throw up.
(It really is quite pretty.)

I told you I'd
Walk to the other
Side of the moon,
If it would make
You
Happy.
You Said
Set a course
For the
Sun
And don't come back
Until
You know what stars taste like.

I walked further
Than you told
Me to,
But I couldn't
Find the edges,
So I came back
To you,
And when you asked me
Why,
I said,
So you can
Taste the stars.
