Dirt and Glitter

Dirt and Glitter

A Poem by Beatrice Mars
"

Not all that Cold.

"

I'm not all that cold
I'd like to scream
but I can't
you've sellotaped my mouth
(Smashed the mirror
so I can't see your face)
I have a heart
I'd like to scream
(but I can't.
You took it away)

Cuts on my skin
(have dirt and glitter in)
speak for themselves,
but through all my hardened layers
You still can't see me.

And for all the clichéd endings
this is not what I intended

I swear.

(swinging from my noose)

wow.
i especially love the title. Dirt and Glitter - it's all contrasting and it made me really attracted to the poem.

(see, I can give fancy reviews! with words like "contrast" and everything!)

Whoa!! Very dark, the description drips like blood from that smashed mirror. There are so many ways these words can be interpreted. The final line and image really cling to my eyes, and image that won't leave. Excellent! A darkly delicious poem.
