Sun on the Pavement

Sun on the Pavement

A Poem by Beatrice Mars
"

(I'm sorry about the rain)

"

I'm sorry about the rain,
Is what I'd try to say,
I see my shadow
on the pavement,
And I see the girl I'd rather be.
Long legs, skinny waist
That's the girl I'd rather be.

A legacy drawn in sand
This is a mask of a real
Person.
Casting shadows
(people watching)
(Long legs, Skinny waist
That's the girl I'd rather be).

Her confidence out shines
All blond bimbo's
and drama freaks.
(Reality is nothing on
what she has on you).
Long legs, Skinny waist
The girl I'd rather be
(You know how these
Lines go).

We are all different shapes
(Different shadows).
Sometimes though
The sun plays tricks,
(Long legs skinny waist
That is the girl I'd rather be)
Makes us believe
We got long legs (Skinny waist)
then we go look in mirrors
(and break them).

You can't see her
Scars or Cracks,
Only her long legs and skinny waist
This the girl I would rather be

Sun on the Pavement
Dances with
the girl, I’ll never be.

Long legs

                Skinny Waist

i loved this poem. every girl has wished she was something/ somebody else. your description of this shadow person, you but you in a different light, is beautiful. i like the repitition of "long legs, skinny waist". this is something all girls can relate to, its something thrown in our faces by society, the perfect woman. "Sun on the Pavement Dances with the girl, i'll never be." brilliant ending. beautiful, brilliant poem.

a train of thought revealing probably more than you intend presented in free form prose but using repetion effectively.
