Raise Your Hand For the Fire BrigadeA Poem by Beatrice MarsWill you write the plot line to my life?
Draw a Smile on the Window
Let the light change
and go forward into
the rain
(the title says it all)
Can you see the blue on my tongue
or the lines on my wrists?
you can't see the faces in our photograph
because it's all (curly) hair
Will you write the plot line to my life
and I’ll just fill in all the blanks
I like the taste on my lips
I like the girl in the painting
I like all the pretty colours
I like my nails that got ripped off
Are you horribly dead?
is that why you've been MIA
Should I call a SOS
are you tired?
Lets go someplace else
Someplace we can see the sky
'cause in the sky is stars
could you see the revelation in my eyes?
What is this urban jungle?
Concrete Paths in the wild places
Now I’m healing
the blue is fading
(you be pip and I’ll be squeak)
you can't paint fairies
(you're not allowed)
and so with this we get a close up
of your face
You try to steer clear
but somehow you went wrong
and now you got to pick the up the pieces
up off of the carpet
She wipes away the nail varnish
makes it perfect
looks over her shoulder
thinks like she's being watched
She don't know she's being watched
(Cause who would like to die alone?) Dear God?
Are you sleeping?
I hope not, you gotta lot of work to do.....
Raise you hand
for the fire brigade
don't write like you talk
have you got the writers numbers
(wouldn't want to run out of ideas)
Into the rain
And now the smile on the window is fading
(yes god you got a whole lot of work to do....)
