Dreadful Betrayal

Dreadful Betrayal

A Poem by Beatrice Mars
"

Closer to the voice, who'll give me power.

"

Come over to me
(the dark side)
My love
We'll protect you
We'll love you
(they said)

(Come back to us)
My friend
We can help you
(they said)

It doesn't have to be this way
you can be strong my love
you can power
(he fights for me)

You don't want it to be like this
You can be good my friend
You can be free
(he begs for me)

Look at me my love
Listen to me my love and do as I say
The fire has chosen it's course and now so will you
I'll all be okay

Look around you my friend
Listen to the water
It has found it's path
now you must find yours
It'll all be okay
If your heart stays true

I've got to break away from these voices
This is my life
(my failure)
I'm sorry for this betrayal
I've been so awful
But my heart was thrown to
(the dogs)
The darkness
now I can't get it back
(I’ll stop making excuses)
And I'll say sorry again
for this
Dreadful Betrayal
and I
Walk towards the voice
Who'll give me Power

(That’s right my love, it's okay, one step at a time, closer now, to your power, to the darkness)
