Perception

Perception

A Poem by Bear Y'hoshua
"

As I have struggled with my addiction, I have lost many friends and family members who have decided I was not worth staying in contact with while at my lowest of lows.

"
Other people's perception of me
Are not necessarily my reality
Some see me as this wonderful guy
Others view me as a complete loser
And yet I am something in between
I'm at my lowest point right now
And so many people
Have ceased communication with me
My message to them?
Don't bother coming back
If you can't love me
Through my worst
You don't deserve the chance
To love me at my best
I've made new friends
New family
That love me despite my brokenness
Who support me through
My darkest of nights
They love me in spite of
My being an addict
Because they can see
The guy I'm starting to be
For then I give thanks
My love for them
Overwhelms me
The rest of the world
Can just go away
