TRICK OR TREAT CHALLENGE

TRICK OR TREAT CHALLENGE

A Poem by Bear

Voices in the night whispering to me seeming to call out my name
I'm sure it's the wind in the trees that has me playing a mind game
But the shadows also seem darker and crawling across the ground
Raising goosebumps and making me jump at each and every sound
Spider webs across my face as I make my way from house to house
Has me questioning my bravery, wondering am I a man or a mouse
Was my decision to trick or treat on my own this year a big mistake
But recalling last year how every other candy my brother did take
No, the weight of the candy I have already collected made up my mind
I will not let my brother or fear control my thoughts and be confined
The streetlights flickering to life mark the time that my night is done
I don't mind lugging the full bag of sweet treats the measure of my fun
But a block from home I notice my older brother out waiting for me
Planning to take much of my efforts but I was expecting this you see
So from my sack, a different mask and costume makes me unknown
And past my brother thinking me a trick or treater I make it home
