JUDGEMENT

JUDGEMENT

A Poem by Bear

In conversation on a dark and dismal wintry night
Two lonely souls debating life's saddening plight
Sinking deeper into their depressive melancholic mood
Wondering why man is so selfish, careless and rude
The one, a lady of ivory skin and wheat yellow hair
Said "Everyone calls me a dumb blond, so why should I care"
The other, an aged man of mystery with skin dark as coal
Spoke in a commanding whisper that reached into the soul
"Simple the mind that can only see the color of hair or skin"
"For human perfection is unseen coming from within"
"But judge not others by your own phobia, faults or fears"
"Less my friend you be judged in kind by your own peers"

The imagery is precise without being excessive. The wisdom is for the ages.

I really enjoyed it, you have managed to put such a strong message into very few words without it feeling incomplete and I couldnt agree more with the lesson. Nice work!

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, this also was written as part of a writing challenge.
Very nicely done. I can tell you are a serious poet, unlike my crude casting of thoughts upon a page. I hesitate to comment other than compliment you on your skil.

I love your word choice. Really brings out the tone of confusion in the beginning and flows nicely into the wisdom of the old man. Well done.

I loved this poem since it talks about stereotypes and prejudice. Most people don't notice it but we all do it, consciously or subconsciously, because we have grown as humans to judge someone based on how they look. We judge a blonde woman by calling her dumb, but they are still smart, for example. I believe we have been taught to judge people since we were born, our community judging people without knowing them. Great poem, Bear. Thank you for posting it.
