WORD MANS DEATHA Poem by BearHere's to Henry W. Longfellow, in the styling and wording of the time.
A rhyme of me she ask that I read
A poem to her I said only if she plead But in my mouth the words all ran dry No sound would come out however I try So from the wings a kid did step out And in a strong voice rise up to shout A verse have I to read if you will but let And he stepped up to stage as I did set Clear were his words as from heart they pour And with each I felt the closing of a door All was said and done she did turn on me Her tears told a truth even I could see His words had turned life's moments askew Her love upon him she pledges it forever true I gave my love a word to make her mine But another's was the nectar of sweet wine My words have grown old before my eyes To verse, poem and rhyme my mouth dies Bear © 2015 BearAuthor's Note
