That Slow-Dance in NovemberA Poem by Dalton WagonerA poem based on a true event :-)Waves of crowds engulfing me I try to push my way through And while I try to get free Something catches my eye: you I approach you with a grin I can tell you want to dance We began to dance therein I'm glad you gave me a chance Our surroundings are fading Even if my dancing's bad Emotions are pervading There's more than I thought I had Your touch, warm and refining I feel the beat of your heart Our souls are intertwining And emotions begin to start I need a map for your eyes And shades for your flawless smile I notice as your heart soars When I say this is worthwhile Your hair smells so delightful And your skin smooth to the touch I recalled that were frightful Smiling as you soothe your clutch We talk uber happily As we're in each other's arms Our feet are moving freely I am in awe of your charms The song ended so we ceased It was hard to let you go All the loneliness decreased While our hearts were aglow Our dancing was a grand slam And these feelings are not fake I'll remember what I am I'm "the icing on your cake" I forgot a woman's touch But you helped me remember I will miss that day so much That slow-dance in November
