I'll See You on the Other Side

I'll See You on the Other Side

A Poem by Dalton Wagoner
"

I wrote this Sonnet for school. My English teacher teared up after she read it, I hope you do, too!

"
1 Transcending the world as you lay in bed
2 We reminisce all the good times we've had
3 From the very first dance in which you lead
4 To when you became my wedded comrade
5 Then nine months later, we had our offspring
6 All grown up, he had found himself a wife
7 A family to the world he did bring
8 Soon to move away to live his own life
9 Old and decrepit, we now live in peace
10 With our life journey perfectly complete
11 As I can see now, you are ready to release
12 And just know that I will miss you my sweet
13 I know that the Earth I must still abide
14 But I will see you on the other side

I...wow. Did I tear up? No. Do I have tears running down my cheeks so rapidly it's impossible to comprehend? Yes, oh god, yes. Just by reading the title I knew I was entering sensitive territory, and this amazed me the most anything has ever in my thirteen years.
