Infatuation

Infatuation

A Poem by Bdempsey

Take a sip from the cup, not a gulp, just a sip.
Take a sip from the cup, not a gulp, just a sip.
Then the cup goes away and a drought takes is place
And an ache starts to grow in the pit of my soul

And I yearn for a sip, not a gulp, just a sip
And I yearn for a sip, not a gulp, just a sip
And I plead for a sip and I beg for a sip and I pray for a sip
And the ache grows stronger and my longing grows longer
And the frustration matches my thirst and I feel as if I’ll go mad without a sip
And I wonder if I’ll ever sip again
And my parched mouth feeds my anger and wishes that the cup never came.
